week(end) project

July 11, 2010

oh man, mr and I found ourselves some new projects! one of which is totally necessary, the other however is not and may be an utter disaster. Nonetheless, we will be breaking from the house fixing monotony with cleaning up some new-to-us bike frames and trying to build a side table/sculpture.

First the necessary: bikes. My bike is a beast that I painted real pretty a few years back, but said paint job melted off during a VERY long ride in 100 degree weather, so there is really no reason to keep the million pound mongoloid around other than for sentimental reasons. And Mr.(who is actually an avid rider) had his bike literally self destruct in the middle of a different VERY long ride, and has been stuck riding our yucky  basket riddled “grocery getting” bike untill this weekend. Above you will find the inspiration for my new bike’s pretty paint job, yay summer!

next project will be making some Frankenstein version of these 2 end tables. The first is leather and while super amazing, the black leather geode thing seems like it would take the aesthetic of our house from vaguely bizarre to totally wiccan, and the latter is also awesome but is made from papier mache and costs almost 400 dollars(say what?!). SO, how about I put them together and see what happens…
